Lincoln Christmas Market

A seasonal market in one of the oldest Cities in the UK

16th December 2016

Christmas is such a unique time for everyone in the UK. Christmas Markets are part of the special build up that gets us into the mood for this annual celebration. Lincoln is a small city of around 100,00 but attracts between 200-300,00 for the 4 days of it's Christmas Market.
Usually beginning on the first Thursday in December the historic Cathedral area is transformed into an outdoor Christmas Market. Lincoln Castle forms an integral part of it with stalls all around it's grounds similar to how it has probably been used since 1068 when it was built.

Travelling to the Christmas Market in Lincoln needs a bit of preperation. Driving is possible but car parking in the City is limited. A special 'Park and Ride' operates from the Lincolnshire Showground which is popular with visitors using a car.
Lincoln has a train station connected to the all major routes, special Christmas Market trains are laid on from all parts of the country. The normal services also operate and bring lots of visitors into the city. If you take the train be prepared for a 10 minute walk to reach the cathedral Quarter. The route takes you up the pedestrianised High Street and up the iconic Steep Hill. If you think Steep Hill is beyond you then look out for the 'Walk and Ride' shuttle bus which loops aroound the city between up-hill and down-hill Lincoln.
